I've finally added an events calendar<\/strong><\/a> to the website. A few new things are coming, both in the UK. I hope it starts getting nourished with new things in various other places and online. One must feed the delulu machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, as it's corporeal and creative Friday, I'm leaving you with a poem from my book Meanwhile<\/a><\/strong>, published in 2020 by Burning Eye Books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I'm currently working on a new bilingual edition that comes in Spanish as well. If you read the original version of this post, you'll read a Spanish version of this poem as part of what I've transrecreated so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But is it art?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\n

Falling is an art,
and what I\u2019m doing right now is mass media.

It is kitsch,
foam die on a dartboard,
fall, die as I hear your name
and remember your picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I\u2019m doing right now is a bastard,
a spawn, mum at the waiting room of the clinic,
burst out from her abdomen as it\u2019s summoned for termination.
Determination.

This thing that I\u2019m doing right now
is as stubborn and loud
as a white cis male, middle-class and middle-aged,
pitching the plot for the next comedy film
starring Adam Sandler.

This
is intimidating.
It speaks up, muffles any original thought
and rubs my right leg as it smirks and implores me
to give him a smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This...
falling...
is a telenovela villain
rolling down the stairs,
meeting her comeuppance.
As the stuntman touches the ground
and the first actress takes up his place,
she holds her breath to pretend she\u2019s dead,
but, eyes closed,
we can see she\u2019s still blinking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Falling is an art,
yet I\u2019m an imposter.
This thing I\u2019m doing right now is not art.
